Easter is the day of our Lord's rebirth,
The most important day for us on earth.
Today is the day that once did bring,
Jesus' return to us from all His suffering.
He knew His fate the day He was born,
To suffer man's cruelties and suffer their scorn.
His dying for us redeemed us from sin,
Giving us new life with His spirit within.
On that Calvary cross Jesus suffered man's pain,
So upon our death heaven we could gain.
On that wooden cross Jesus Christ did die,
He breathed His last beneath a darkened sky.
The tears of Mary could not wash away,
The hurts and sufferings of her son that day.
He suffered and died on that lonely cross,
So man's eternal salvation, was not a loss.
The power of the Father couldn't save the Son,
For without His death, the Father's work was undone.
Jesus dying for us showed love so true,
What more for us could God's Son do?
His battered and lifeless body was taken down,
Bloodied by nails, a lance and a thorny crown.
Taken from the mount to a grotto grave,
This Son of God, that His father couldn't save.
On an early morn with the light still dim,
A woman in sadness went to prepare Him.
She saw the stone rolled from the tomb,
That no longer contained the joy of Mary's womb.
Jesus was now risen for all to see,
He suffered and died for you and me.
Never again will sin ever keep us away,
From spending eternity with Him some day.
Our destiny is life in eternity with others,
With God our Father and all as brothers.
This inheritance from God earned by His Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord, is the risen One.
We are made new with His spirit inside,
We're no longer alone, He's at our side.
His death brought hope, a new life begins,
by His sad death He paid for our sins.
