Was it a vision, was it only a dream, I was in Heaven by a gentle stream. The heaven I pictured in my resting mind, A place so unique, one of a kind. Words can never describe the beauty I see, Why am I blessed someone unworthy as me. Everywhere one looks all is pure and pristine, An artist couldn't capture this lush pastoral scene. His canvas couldn't hold the sights and sounds, Nor the internal feeling of peace that abounds. I'd wished I'd never waken from this sight, But it disappeared quickly as morning replaced night. Eden was a forerunner, a prelude to this perfection, What my mind envisioned was without any imperfection. The waters run pure the grasses so green, Such beauty and peace has never been seen. I couldn't have imagined such beauty and light, Only God could've granted this awe inspiring sight. The air is scented with jasmine and spice, The breezes gently blowing making everything so nice. The spectrum of colors is everywhere to be seen, Red, orange and yellow, blue, violet and green. A masterpiece of creation home of our Lord, Our self-sacrificing Redeemer, beloved Son of God. Everywhere are loved ones that I hold dear, You feel their love so pure and clear. Love is the feeling that pervades my heart, Knowing that for eternity you'll always be part. Is this a message that there is hope, If I trust God He'll help me cope. Is dying in Christ the key to Heaven's gate, To this heavenly utopia a place without hate. Why's my humble mind been so richly blessed, A mind that has been tortured and is distressed. Is this a vision of what awaits death, The fabled Shangri-La entered upon our last breath. Is this the reward that Christians can attain, By serving our Lord and sharing His pain. Will our repentant hearts and pleas for forgiveness, Bring us God's mercy and this heavenly goodness. The Father and Son and the Holy Ghost Will forever in eternity be our loving host.
