Only Jesus was worthy to be the Lamb slain,
To erase our sins and our salvation to gain.
His transforming power opened the locked gate,
That kept in our hearts sinfulness and hate.
He became man to show us the way,
To follow His path so we wouldn't stray.
By His sacrifice we gained an eternal treasure,
An eternity of love that is beyond measure.
On earth He was rejected, beaten and killed,
So His Father's work, man's salvation, was fulfilled.
He suffered for us until His last breath,
Mistreatment and torture and then a cruel death.
His mother who bore Him knelt and cried,
At the foot of His cross where He died.
Her tears of anguish and her broken heart,
Were the first pains borne at Christianity's start.
On earth He was man, in Heaven He's king,
Here He was cursed, there praises they sing.
He came into our hearts with life giving love,
Sent by His loving Father from heaven above.
No longer in darkness He's given us light,
To see only goodness and always do right.
By giving His life He opened the door,
To enter His kingdom and dwell there ever more.
